New Glasses
Then once Daddy came home from work, it was off to the eye doctor's to get our new glasses. A was getting her first pair, as was I, Daddy's had them forever.
She was so excited. She's cleaned them with the cloth about 50 times. Daddy and A had a very long discussion about how to handle glasses during dinner, and she had them on almost as soon as she popped out of bed this morning.
Here are a few of the things she has said about them
"I can see things bigger and straighter."
"I am proud of my glasses."
"I won [my glasses] because I was the prettiest."
I would say that they are a hit. :)

Little Blue Riding Hood by A
Little Blue Riding Hood lived with her grandma. She wobbled when she stood on one leg. She saw a cow. When she looked in a mirror, she saw Little Blue Riding Hood.
She just poked herself with a needle. She played with a ball of yarn with a cat, and then she played Slammy, by baking stuff in a toy kitchen with toy food and then she gave it to a customer.
Then she got dressed. She ate chocolate and cookie. She played with a nothing because she was playing Hide and Seek with someone. Then she was eating kitty food, it tasted good though.
The kitties said meow meow, and the grandma gave the kitties more food. Grandma was ok with LBRH eating kitty food.

Thermometers
A took my temperature today. I either have a temperature of 4920, 2094 (we're still working on reading from left to right) or 1.
Revelations
Apparently now deoderant keeps your armpits from combusting...
"Mom what happens if you don't use that protecting thing for your arm?"
"I don't know. What protecting stuff?"
"The stuff that goes under your arms?"
"Oh, it just keeps you from getting stinky."
"No, it keeps the fire from coming out from under your arms."

I guess I'm magic
But this morning was great. She had a baby doll out while we were having snack, and she decided that he needed a nap. Then she went into a lecture about how her baby doesn't have any siblings because God thinks the family is good the way it is (yeah, she totally came up with that on her own...no), but then she quickly decided that she was the baby's sister.
She then went on to tell me that when she dies, I will get another baby. It might be a boy, or it might be a girl again. I asked her why she was going to die. She said she was going to get old and die.
I then questioned about the possibility of my getting old while she got old. She dismissed this off hand, and proceeded to talk about how when she dies of old age I will 1) still be alive and 2) still young enough to have more children. I guess I'm magic.
Back on track...sort of
Well, it's been a while, but I think things are getting to a sort of normal.
We found out last Wednesday that our sewer was disconnected, so we have been busy dealing with that. We're still working on it, but we've developed some systems to get through the day and still be able to crazy things like bathe.
We might be able to get it fixed by Thursday, or at least get things started Thursday.
But we're back in school. We took last week off to deal with the sewer, but we're back now.
I've started using Homeschool Skedtrack, and that has been nice. It gives me some of the familiarity of classroom lesson plans. That has been going well.
I've also decided that we're going to have school everyday. It mostly just gives us something to do. We'll see how things go if and when I start working again, but for now A and I need planned time together.
Today we played Musical Hands from Theme-a-saurus. We listened to Symphony No. 2 in D Major, Op. 73. It is a great piece for this activity. While the entire opus is 41 minutes long, the first five to ten minutes has a nice variety in tempo.
Below is the lovely fingerpaint artifact A created as she listened. We also had a nice discussion about mixing yellow and blue.

Grr
My bread is not rising. I guess I shouldn't be to shocked given that it is November, but I do have the bowl in a cabinet above the heating vent and the bowl is warm to the touch.
I am kind of concerned that the milk I put in was too warm and cooked the yeast early... hmm we'll have to see I guess.
Breakfast time Thoughs about our Cats
"Vlad is a boy."
"Well he's still shy."
"Yes he is."
"Well Genny's Queen of all the Cats because she's not a boy."

Yeah, we have a leak in the basement. While we were away while DH was on assignment our water was turned off, and apparently now our line to the sewer system is blocked or something. So now I have to find a plumber tomorrow...in addition to taking A to the dentist. Fun days to come, but today was not too bad.
It Finally Happened

About Us:
Me
I was a full time teacher, but then my husband got transferred out of state, and after 10 months apart, we decided that I would quit teaching to stay home with A who was then 3. We tried a bit of homeschool preschool, but got off track. We are trying again, and with the help of Homeschool Skedtrack, we're doing better.
Soon, I will be starting to sub a few days a week. Hopefully this will give us a bit more disposable income so we can afford to decorate the house, take vacations, and buy all those school supplies that just make life easier.
A
Our daughter, and author of most of the random saying that will eventually be posted up here. She is four, very active, and just a bit stubborn.
DH
My Dear Husband works for a government contractor doing something or other with submarine engines. He's been working there 6 years, but can't talk about his work, so I really don't know what it is he does. He's a very DIY kind of guy and since we got back to our house on October 29th he's put up a shelf, changed the hardware in the bathroom- including the toilet paper dispenser, added a towel hook and towel rod, put up curtains, and sold a great deal of our duplicate and extra items on craigslist.
Us
My DH and I have been married over 6 years and together 11 years as of January. A was born in 2009 and keeps us very busy. We both have family in the Midwest. As a family we are working to simplify our life, mostly by getting rid of unnecessary items. I would like to work a bit towards self-sufficiency, but we take little steps.
